Landscape Designing and Building Process

Landscape Designing and Building Process

If you have an outdoor space that is poorly utilised, messy, or isn't fit for purpose, it might be time to give MAM a call.

Our talented team offer a range of landscape design services to suit any location. With well over a decade of experience, we provide our clients with only the highest quality results that meet your specific project requirements.

Landscape architecture is one of our passions, and we take great pride in the work we do to bring your garden space to life. Whether it's a simple tune up like new turf or a fence, or larger projects like patios or garden ponds, we can do it all.

Do I really need a landscape contractor to help me?

Gardening can be a relaxing hobby. Many people enjoy working with the soil and the feeling of accomplishment once the job is done. However, garden design and landscaping is a whole different ball game in terms of expertise and the level of physical work required.

To achieve the best results, landscaping requires specialist knowledge and tools that are only available to those who are properly trained. Each member of our team has extensive experience in their field, whether they're a trained landscape architect or an expert in building.

If you're nervous about handing the baton over to our team, don't worry. We enjoy working closely with all of our clients, and endeavour to truly understand your vision before we get to work on your space. Your requirements are always at the centre of what we do.

Sounds good - so what's next?

If you're interested in our landscape design and build services, the first thing to do is to get in touch with us via our website or phone number.

Primarily, we'll want to gain a detailed understanding of your vision for your back or front yard. If you're unsure of what you want, it can be helpful to ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do I use/want to use my outdoor space for?

  • Who uses my outdoor space?

  • What is the purpose of my renovations?

The answers to these questions should give our team an insight into how to optimise your space. For example, if you're looking for a quiet space to relax in, we might suggest building a dedicated area, such as a patio, for contemplation or meditation. Or, if you're looking to attract wildlife to your garden, a water feature such as a pond can help.

If you have pets or young children, this is also something to consider. Jagged rocks or more rustic designs might not work well in this instance; you may want to choose smooth monoblocking with plenty of garden lights to ensure the safety of your friends and family.

Finally, consider the reason why you're improving your space. Is it for you, or are you planning to sell? If it's the latter, you should think about the most appealing garden features for prospective buyers - a properly landscaped garden can increase your property value by up to 77% according to research from Post Office Money. That's more value than an extension.

We also deliver large scale landscaping projects, including for new build flats or commercial developments. Take a look at our projects section to find out more.

What is the landscape design and building process?

We cater each and every process around the needs of our clients, and deliver a bespoke experience depending on the scale and ambition of your vision. This means that every process is unique, however broadly we adhere to the following:

Initial visit

After we've had an initial conversation with you, we'll send our team out to have a look at the space to determine the degree of work involved. This gives us the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with you and understand exactly what it is you want to change. Once we've completed this visit, we'll be in a position to deliver an initial quote for your improvements.

Brief and client approval

We'll then formulate a comprehensive brief for your approval, ensuring that all changes are overseen and signed off by you. If anything changes throughout the process, we will always let you know immediately and work alongside you to determine the most appropriate course of action.

Site survey

Depending on your choices, we might conduct a thorough survey of your space to record existing features and conditions. This could be as simple as taking some measurements, or a full topographical survey depending on the extent of the work that needs to be done. This allows us to get a better sense of the restrictions we might run into through the process.

Concept design

From there, our team will get to work crafting a concept or outline design. This will incorporate all the information we've collected, including measurements, your budget and what you envision for your space. Depending on the scale of your project, this could materialise as a 2D scaled drawing.

We'll meet with you in person to talk through the design and answer any questions you might have.

Master plan

Once you've approved everything, we set our actions in stone using a master plan. This will be our guide as we complete your project, and is the time when costs, time scales and building works are confirmed.

Building the Garden Design

It's time for our talented landscaping team to get to work realising your vision. We'll always remain respectful of your household, minimising disruption as much as possible, and carry out all works in accordance with all health and safety regulations.

Your garden should be complete within the agreed time frame, and we'll remain open and honest with you throughout the process in case we need to make any changes. You'll be left with the perfect space to suit you, whether it's a haven for relaxation or a social place where friends and family gather.
