MAM Contracting was appointed to undertake a complex programme of excavation works requiring specialist temporary works, groundwater management and deep excavation techniques on a constrained site adjacent to a busy public highway and river corridor.

The project demanded meticulous planning, experienced operators and a strong commitment to safety to successfully complete the excavation while managing difficult ground conditions and significant groundwater ingress.

The Challenge

The works involved excavations exceeding four metres in depth, requiring the installation of heavy-duty trench support systems to provide a safe working environment and maintain the integrity of the excavation.

Working close to existing infrastructure, public access routes and environmentally sensitive areas meant every stage of the operation had to be carefully coordinated. As excavation progressed, groundwater was encountered, requiring continuous pumping and water management to maintain a safe and stable working area.
