Delivering Complex Ground Engineering Safely and Efficiently

MAM Contracting was appointed to undertake a complex programme of excavation works requiring specialist temporary works, groundwater management and deep excavation techniques on a constrained site adjacent to a busy public highway and river corridor.

The project demanded meticulous planning, experienced operators and a strong commitment to safety to successfully complete the excavation while managing difficult ground conditions and significant groundwater ingress.

The Challenge

The works involved excavations exceeding four metres in depth, requiring the installation of heavy-duty trench support systems to provide a safe working environment and maintain the integrity of the excavation.

Working close to existing infrastructure, public access routes and environmentally sensitive areas meant every stage of the operation had to be carefully coordinated. As excavation progressed, groundwater was encountered, requiring continuous pumping and water management to maintain a safe and stable working area.

Our Solution

Using our modern fleet of excavators and experienced site team, MAM Contracting successfully carried out all excavation works, including:

· Site establishment and preparation

· Bulk earthworks and excavation

· Installation and removal of specialist trench support systems

· Excavations exceeding 4 metres in depth

· Groundwater management and pumping operations

· Safe excavation within confined working areas

· Precise trimming and formation of excavation bases

· Backfilling and reinstatement following completion

Throughout the project, strict safety procedures and environmental controls were maintained to ensure the works were delivered without compromising the surrounding environment or neighbouring infrastructure.

The project utilised a range of specialist plant and equipment, including:

· 14-tonne and 22-tonne excavators

· Heavy-duty trench support boxes

· Vacuum tanker and pumping equipment for groundwater control

· Temporary works systems

· Survey equipment for accurate excavation control
